The honest overview

How do you connect Notion to Pinterest? (3 ways)

Notion can't publish to Pinterest by itself: it's a planning tool, not a publisher. Pinterest has a scheduler of its own, but only for business accounts, and it holds up to 10 Pins up to 30 days ahead, one Pin at a time. There are three ways to publish Pins from Notion. You can draft in Notion and create each Pin on Pinterest yourself, which keeps the planning calm but brings back the copy and paste. You can connect a Notion database to Pinterest through an automation tool, which creates a Pin when a row is added rather than on the date you choose. Or you can connect NotionScheduler, which reads the database you already plan in and publishes each row to the board you pick, at the time you set: the row's title becomes the Pin's title, its text the description, and the first link in the text the Pin's link.

Not possible

Notion on its own

Notion has no built-in publishing. It can plan your Pinterest content well, but it can't publish it: you need something to bridge Notion and Pinterest.

Powerful, technical

Automation tools

Zapier or Make can create a Pin from a new Notion row. It fires when the row is created, not on the date you plan, so scheduling means building extra steps yourself, and Pinterest is a premium app on Zapier.

NotionScheduler

Connect your workspace and your Pinterest account, tick the boards you publish to, write in Notion. Pins go out with an image, a carousel or a video on the date you set, nothing to build or maintain.

Step by step

How to schedule Pinterest Pins from Notion

Once your workspace is connected, planning and publishing Pins lives entirely in Notion. Four steps:

  1. 1

    Connect your Pinterest account

In your NotionScheduler dashboard, choose Pinterest and approve the connection on Pinterest. Each of your boards then shows up as an account you can publish to.

  2. 2

Pick the boards and connect Notion

Tick the boards you want in Manage accounts on your database. NotionScheduler adds the properties a scheduler needs to your Notion database: date and time, status, account, media.

  3. 3

    Write your Pins in Notion

One row per Pin: its title is the Pin's title, its text the description, the first link in the text the Pin's link. Attach an image, 2 to 5 images for a carousel, or a video.

  4. 4

    Let it auto-publish

Tick the board in the row, then "Ready to post?". At the scheduled time the Pin is saved to that board, and its views, saves, likes and comments come back into the row.

Why it works for Pinterest

Pins that keep working

A Pin keeps bringing visits for months, so Pinterest rewards a steady flow of fresh ones far more than bursts. Planning that flow in Notion, next to the blog posts, products or templates each Pin links to, turns it into one weekly sitting instead of a chore you keep putting off.

01

Plan a month of Pins at once

Write titles, descriptions and links in one sitting, spread them over the weeks.

02

Images, carousels and video

One image, a carousel of 2 to 5 images, or a video with its cover.

03

Your boards, ready to pick

Every board of your account appears as an option in your Notion database.

04

Results in the row

Views, saves, likes and comments are written back into each Pin's row.

Pinterest specifically

A real row: a Pin with its title, description, link and board

Pinterest builds a Pin from fields a post doesn't have, so the row maps onto them: the page title becomes the Pin's title (100 characters at most), the page text its description (800 at most), and the first link in the text becomes the link the Pin opens. Images can be JPG, PNG or WebP, up to 20 MB each, and a 2:3 portrait (1000 × 1500) shows best in the feed; two to five images make a carousel. A video goes out on its own, as an MP4, MOV or M4V of 4 seconds to 15 minutes, with the row's thumbnail as its cover when there is one. A row can go to two boards of the same Pinterest account at most, so the same Pin isn't saved everywhere at once: for more boards, duplicate the row with a later date.

Yes. Notion can't publish on its own, but with NotionScheduler you connect your workspace and your Pinterest account, write each Pin in a Notion database, and it publishes to the board you picked at the time you set.

It does, for business accounts: up to 10 Pins, up to 30 days ahead, scheduled one at a time on Pinterest. NotionScheduler has no such cap, and you plan your Pins in Notion next to the rest of your content.

Each board of your Pinterest account becomes an account you can tick in your Notion database. Pick the ones to publish to in Manage accounts on your database, then tick the board in each row. A row can go to two boards of the same account at most.

From the row: the page title is the Pin's title, the page text its description, and the first link in the text is the link the Pin opens.

Yes. Attach two to five images for a carousel, or one video (MP4, MOV or M4V, 4 seconds to 15 minutes) with an optional thumbnail as its cover. A Pin always needs an image or a video.

No. Pinterest doesn't let apps comment on a Pin, so a first comment on the row is skipped for Pinterest with a note. Put your link in the text instead: it becomes the Pin's link.

Yes. Pinterest works on every plan, including Free, like every platform except X (Twitter).
